Maria clenched her fists at Aaron’s snicker, but instead of snapping back, she let her mind wander. His smug expression faded away as she conjured up an image in her head: Aaron, his unruly hair tied up in pigtails, wearing a frilly pink dress with lace and bows. A basket of flower petals dangled from his hand as he awkwardly shuffled down the aisle.
The image grew more vivid. Aaron's grumpy face twisted into embarrassment as he scattered petals with each reluctant step. The crowd around him stifled chuckles, and Aaron's cheeks turned as red as the roses in his basket.
Maria bit her lip to suppress a laugh. The mental picture was too good. She imagined him fumbling to keep his balance in shiny patent leather shoes, the dress’s puffy skirt bouncing with every step.
